Before Your Visit
Send Dr. Gerlach your imaging.
How to get your MRI, CT, or X-ray images to Dr. Erik Gerlach’s office at Indiana Spine Group: upload the study from the disc or folder your imaging center gave you, bring the disc, or have the imaging center send it.
Three ways to get your imaging to the office
Dr. Gerlach looks at the actual images, not only the radiology report, so the scans need to reach the office before your visit. Use whichever of these fits what you have.
1. Upload it online
Insert the disc from the imaging center (or open the folder you downloaded), tell us who you are, and send the whole study straight to the office. It goes directly to the practice’s own system; this website never stores it.
Upload your imaging2. Bring the disc
Ask the imaging center or hospital where your scan was done for a copy on disc (sometimes a USB drive) along with the written report, and bring both to your appointment.
3. Have the imaging center send it
Most imaging centers can send studies electronically to another practice. Call the office first so the team can tell the center where to send it; a release form is usually required.
Upload your imaging
Use a computer with the disc in it. A zip file from your imaging center’s download link also works, including from a phone. Only the medical image files are sent; the viewer program and other files on the disc are left behind.
Choose the study
Open the disc or the folder from your imaging center and choose it, or drop it here. We keep only the image files.
Drop the folder or files here, or choose them with one of these buttons.
Limits: up to 2 GB and 5,000 files per upload; a single file over 95 MB cannot be sent this way. If your study is larger, call (317) 893-1250.
Your reference number is . The office will call you at the number you gave. Questions in the meantime? Call (317) 893-1250.
What to send
- The images themselves: the MRI or CT study on disc or as exported files, not a photo of the screen. If you have both an MRI and a CT, send both.
- The radiology report that came with each study.
- Recent X-rays, if you have them.
- For prior spine surgery: the operative report and any imaging done since.

Your privacy
Medical images are protected health information. The online upload sends your files directly to the practice’s own system; this website never stores them. Send images only through the channels on this page or those the office gives you by phone. Please do not email images or post them to social media.
Common questions
Can I just email my images?
No. Email is not a secure channel for medical records, and attachments are usually too large. Use the upload on this page, bring the disc, or ask your imaging center to send the study.
Is a photo of my MRI good enough?
A photo of the screen or a printed image is not enough. Dr. Gerlach needs the full study so he can scroll through every slice.
What if I only have the report?
Call (317) 893-1250. The office can usually help you request the images from the facility that performed the scan.
What if the upload does not work for me?
Call (317) 893-1250 and our team will tell you how to send your imaging another way. Nothing is lost by calling instead.
